The S.M.A.R.T. SAR Center is located in a brand-new building with virtually unlimited development potential—a five-story smart property featuring a ground-level garden, an underground emergency bunker, an Air Tower, full southern exposure, and unobstructed 360° panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.The facility is designed to become one of Europe’s most advanced rescue bases, featuring modern living spaces, vertical gardens, high-tech furnishings, and sustainable energy systems.Designed for the future and never previously inhabited, the rooftop is suitable for an e-helipad.Beneath the Future Rescuer’s Smart Home lies a private, nuclear-grade SOS bunker engineered as a self-sustaining shelter, inspired by Cold War resilience and modern innovation. It is connected to the private elevator serving the Exclusive Penthouse Rescue Residence.Located in Sofia’s prestigious Buxton Heights district, this five-story smart complex combines vertical rescue readiness, air-mobility infrastructure, and advanced survival systems.Building on Ivan Kristoff’s previous work for political and diplomatic communities, the project is now being reimagined for the Rescuer of the Future—a visionary hub dedicated to protection, innovation, preparedness, and the next generation of rescuers.

The Scholar Program

The Ivan Kristoff Scholar Program offers a unique opportunity to participate in rope-access education, research, or a combination of both across locations such as Bulgaria, Dubai, and North America.The program provides opportunities for volunteers and professionals to participate in vertical and aerial rescue training at dedicated training centers.
Together with police officers from Dubai and Vancouver, we discussed the next frontier of rope access at extreme heights and the application of AI technology in rescue operations.
