THE BOOK OF SUPER HIGH-RISE ROPE ACCESS PHOTOGRAPHY

This collection of photos and essay represent the scope of work in the artistic and professional endeavor of the Ivan Kristoff in the period of year 2002-2005.

Prof. Pascal Michelucci of the University of Toronto wrote that Ivan’s amazing photographic work has found a great historic venue where it will be showcased in the national capital of his own native country. In his letter address for the opening of Ivan’s exhibition in the Bulgarian National Assembly Building in Sofia, he wrote: “You can feel proud of such an achievement. The photo exhibit which you were contemplating when you took my Communication, Culture and Information technology course has now became a reality. Your efforts are being acknowledged and rewarded in a memorable manner… I am sure that many more successes will follow”.

The Honorable Jean Augustine, M. P. of the Canadian House of Commons wrote in her address to the organizers of the same exhibition; “Mr. Ivan Kristoff has accumulated a unique portfolio of aerial and remote access photography that deserves to be recognized. His work extends to his knowledge and expertise in the area of emergency response. Through the Highrise Emergency Aerial Response Team (H.E.A.R.T.), Mr. Kristoff has exhibited leadership in technological innovation and in his commitment to public safety.

This exhibition portfolio contains over 100 images, some of which are shown here for the first time. The book includes photos taken by high-altitude photographer Adel Nazer.

Aiming high…
“My emotional feeling, the night before I had to leave the first footprints on the unclimbed areas of the Tallest Free standing Structure (2003) on land, is beyond explanation. The few days when I was stepping into the unknown, I felt the sensation of reaching new heights in photography.

Everyone who dares to climb the highest peak needs his Tensing Norgay to assist him. Especially during the first ascend of the world’s tallest urban summit. Especially in the winter, when he has face brutal winds, extreme weather conditions, deal with the freezing cold and work in harsh environment.

Not for me. I wanted to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event by myself.  In the sphere of uncertainty I wanted to manage the entire risk and critical situations. I always test my innovative suspended access procedures in dangerous environment by myself. Through the trial-error experience I improve them, where necessary. After I developed the best work plan, I invited an overqualified rope access technician to assist me on the exterior high angle slope. I saw his legs shaking and his face changing colors. Obviously, from now on, I had to complete solo the job assignment. The Nikon camera was my only companion”, says Ivan Kristoff.

Ivan Kristoff, who presented his photo exhibition in front of the Crown Princes of Dubai, H.H. Shaikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, H.H. Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammed during Dubai Helishow 2010, and His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the UAE Minister of Economy  during Dubai Helishow 2016 will present his very first book at next year’s event.

КОЙ Е ЧОВЕКЪТ ЗАД ЛОГОТО НА IVAN KRISTOFF?

DAS AUTOбиографията на Иван Кристоф ще излезе в България през 2017. Гергана Цветкова, човекът зад логото, винаги е била загадка. Тази година тя ще подготви историята на Иван Кристоф в мемоари, които са изненадващи, нецензурирани, забавни и талантливо написани. И всички те ще са събрани в автобиографията „Изкуството на войната в комуникациите“, която първо ще излиза в България и онлайн вариант на английски.

Всичко започва с класически преломен момент, когато на 22 години, Иван се премества да живее в Канада и решава, че нетрадиционният път в бизнеса е единственият път за него. Решен е да създаде нещо ново, динамично и различно в света на височинните операции.
Иван ще опише подробно плашещите рискове, с които се сблъсква по пътя, смазващите неуспехи, безпощадните конкуренти, многобройните скептици, недоброжелатели и враждебни хора– както и многото си вълнуващи победи и критични ситуации. Но преди всичко си припомня основополагащите отношения, които формират философията към живота и взаимоотношенията му с приятели и партньори, с неговите първи клиенти и съмишленици за създаване на доброволчески спасителен отряд, разнородна група от хора с характер и специалисти, които бързо се превръщат в екип от вманиачени по високия адреналин братя.

Заедно, впрягайки вдъхновяващата сила на една смела мечта и споделената вяра във възможността да се постигне невъзможното, те работят върху проект за един нови вид спасяване и смела култура на мислен, които променят всичко в света на спасяването на супер високи сгради.
