05 May Project SOS
Rope access at extreme heights
In the short film documentary “Project SOS”, Bulgarian and Canadian filmmaker Ivan Kristoff is taking us on his journey of creating a volunteer rope rescue team that sets new trends in the rope access environment and vertical access operations at extreme heights. He created the “Special Operation Services“, aka S.O.S. team, a one-of-a-kind organization, specialized in rapid access emergency response to hard to reach places. The film takes place in Bulgaria, the director’s native country, in remotes areas, high in the mountains, in the air and high above the urban environment of Sofia.
The start of filming is scheduled for 2017, at the Institute for Vertical Access operatioNs (I.V.A.N.), the training base of the SOS team. For this project, the team requested Ivan Kristoff to design a commemorative emblematic watch for the “S.O.S.” team.
The Project
Ivan Kristoff will showcase the S.O.S. team, which influenced his attitude to achieve new heights in our adventure loving and creative world.
Three (SOS) letters of a team have joined us together and in some part – influenced our attitude to new heights in our adventure loving and creative world.
We are a group of highly motivated people, who believe that through the audiovisual arts we can spread out the word of this initiative.
We are absolute beginners in the film production of short films, but we are smart to learn fast and listen to our mentors, creative friends and people who want to help. We support the SOS-5 project, because we believe in it and we have seen the influence, which the initiative about the Specialized Operations Search and rescue (SOS) team has created in the public and emergency services in Bulgaria. If you are one of the special kind of people, who want to be part of something larger than life, then this project is the right place to be part of.
The Story
The aviator-rescuer and a new film maker Ivan Kristoff is taking us on his journey of creating a volunteer rope rescue team. 5 years ago, he created the “Special Operation Services“, aka S.O.S. team, a one-of-a-kind organization, specialized in rapid access emergency response to hard to reach places. The crew will start filming in Bulgaria, the director’s native country, high in the mountains, in the air and high above the urban environment of Sofia.
What we want to achieve with this film is to present an interesting and community based initiative, which can minimize the loss of life and suffering of lost or injured people in hard to reach places. Anywhere, any time at any place!
You can see the excitement, passion and motivation, which drives these volunteers to save life and help others. Also, you will see some of the struggles and difficulties, an organizer of such a team can face and deal with. How? The answer is simple – by walking through his steps in this audio visual art.
The Impact
This team sets new trends in the rope access environment and vertical access operations at extreme heights. Our intentions are to showcase to volunteers how they can be part of the exciting and humanitarian world of rescue.
Everybody, from the disabled man to the adventure loving creature, can join the SOS team and contribute to the world of rescue. All he needs to have in order to be part of the next 5th Anniversary – Project SOS- is to have a character. We will show you in the move how you can train for rope rescue missions, but if you don’t have a character, there is nothing to be trained…
